ZF Friedrichshafen AG, commonly known as ZF Group, established in 1915 and headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany, is a global technology company specializing in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety systems. ZF's product portfolio includes transmissions, axles, steering systems, braking systems, and automated driving technologies, serving industries such as passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial applications. The company is committed to advancing mobility and transportation solutions, focusing on electrification, autonomous driving, and digitalization. With a presence in 31 countries and approximately 168,700 employees, ZF reported sales of €46.6 billion in fiscal year 2023, operating 162 production locations worldwide.
In order to further advance the modern transport concept, ZF has significantly expanded its range: The company no longer only offers the shuttle vehicles, but a complete all-round carefree package for cities and urban mobility operators.
For the first time, ZF Aftermarket has introduced its own range of air springs in renowned Sachs quality. Air suspension is becoming more and more widespread across the vehicle parc – and workshops must adapt to it.
ZF’s in-depth knowledge of all aspects of vehicle motion control systems is not only unmatched in today’s market, we’re also in the pole position to shape the next level of chassis technology. This is critical as electrification, autonomous driving and the software defined vehicle bring both additional requirements for the chassis and even more possibilities for the future.
The digitization of commercial vehicle (CV) fleets and the establishment of new drive and mobility concepts are accelerating at an unprecedented rate. Workshop processes and customer expectations are changing just as quickly.
ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division will present its latest range of future-ready automation technologies and expertise at IAA Transportation 2022. This includes ZF's innovative next generation Autonomous Driving Open Platform Technology (ADOPT) automated chassis control solution.
Next Generation Mobility, driven by electrified, autonomous, and software-defined vehicles, is fully transforming the aftermarket. At Automechanika, ZF will present new product ranges and innovative service concepts to support workshops, distributors, and fleets in this transformation journey.
Integration pays off - ZF’s new Commercial Vehicles Solution division secures substantial customer orders for innovation technologies in its first six months. Transformation pays off - Demonstration and first customer orders of market-ready steer-by-wire system for passenger cars completes holistic ZF ‘by wire’ portfolio.
As vehicles become increasingly electrified, automated, and software controlled, ZF is at the forefront of developing and industrializing advanced chassis systems with the industry’s most comprehensive offering of by-wire technologies that no longer require a mechanical connection or system fluids. ZF revealed that it has been awarded significant volume contracts by multiple major car manufacturers that will launch in all major regions as of 2023.
As well as premium class vehicles and sports cars, many mid-range vehicles and SUVs are also equipped with electronically adjustable dampers, such as the Sachs CDC (Continuous Damping Control). To help automotive workshops remain competitive in this expanding market, ZF Aftermarket has now greatly expanded its spare parts program for electronic dampers.
The dual mass flywheel dampens torsional vibrations and thus allows the engine to run efficiently at significantly lower speeds than is possible with a conventional flywheel. This reduces fuel consumption. When replacing the DMF, garages should explain to customers that for optimal performance their vehicle's drivetrain relies on this damping function.
