HERE Technologies Unifies Mapping, ADAS & Autonomy for Software-Defined Vehicles

A unified location stack for software-defined vehicles
Software-defined vehicles increasingly rely on centralized computing and shared data layers, yet many vehicle architectures still depend on fragmented navigation, ADAS and autonomy stacks built on multiple map databases and disconnected software components. HERE Technologies has introduced a new SDV-focused portfolio designed to consolidate these domains into a single, AI-powered location and software framework that spans development, validation and in-vehicle operation.

The portfolio combines a production-grade AI-powered live map, customizable navigation and ADAS applications, and a flexible software development kit intended to reduce integration effort while supporting brand-specific user experiences across different vehicle platforms.

Consolidating navigation, ADAS and automated driving
At the core of the SDV portfolio is HERE’s AI-powered live map, which provides continuously updated lane-level geometry, traffic context and road attributes. This shared map foundation supports navigation, advanced driver assistance and automated driving functions without requiring separate databases for each domain.

Expanded HERE Navigation capabilities now support lane rendering and lane-level guidance, enabling a common graphical interface for both navigation and ADAS displays. By visualizing surrounding traffic objects and vehicle context directly within the map view, the system is designed to improve driver understanding and trust in assisted and automated driving features.

The updated HERE Navigation SDK integrates live map intelligence with e-horizon technology, extending situational awareness beyond the range of onboard sensors. This allows path planning and decision-making to account for road topology, curvature, speed limits and upcoming events before they are detected by vehicle sensors.

AI-enabled behavior and predictive assistance
The portfolio introduces Behavioral Maneuvers, an AI-based capability that enables automated driving systems to execute smoother, more natural steering and braking actions. Developed using anonymized data from millions of vehicles, the system is intended to reduce abrupt maneuvers that can undermine driver confidence and lead to disengagement of automated features.

For ADAS and automated driving development, HERE has also introduced SceneXtract, an AI-powered tool that generates simulation-ready driving scenes from map and vehicle data. This significantly shortens test-case creation timelines and supports large-scale validation in virtual environments.

Supporting the vehicle lifecycle from development to deployment
During the development phase, HERE supports SDV programs through its SDV Accelerator, built in collaboration with AWS. The platform allows automakers to design, test and validate digital cockpit and assistance system configurations in virtualized environments, reducing development cycles and enabling extensive scenario testing before vehicle integration.

In production vehicles, HERE Navigation and the Navigation SDK enable OEMs to deploy branded interfaces while maintaining a consistent technical foundation. The platform also supports integration of proprietary or third-party services, including monetization features and voice-based interaction through the HERE AI assistant.

For automated driving and Navigation on Autopilot, the portfolio combines live maps, e-horizon data and Automated Driving Zones, allowing OEMs to define where automated features can operate and under which conditions, supporting regulatory compliance and consistent user behavior.

CES 2026 demonstration
HERE Technologies presented its SDV portfolio at CES 2026, held January 6–9, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, with live demonstrations at West Hall, Booth 3501. The showcase highlighted how a unified location and software architecture can reduce system fragmentation while enabling scalable navigation, ADAS and automated driving deployments.

Deployment scale and regulatory relevance
HERE location data and software are currently deployed in more than 238 million vehicles worldwide, with over 63 million vehicles using HERE technology for ADAS and automated driving functions. The HERE ISA Map has been selected by more than 90 brands across 40+ automakers to meet EU Intelligent Speed Assistance requirements, underscoring the portfolio’s role in regulatory compliance as well as advanced vehicle functionality.

By aligning live mapping, AI and software development tools within a single SDV-oriented architecture, HERE Technologies is positioning location intelligence as a foundational layer for the next generation of software-defined vehicles.
