Daimler Buses has delivered eight Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G articulated electric buses to das Stadtwerk.Mobilität in Regensburg, further expanding the city’s electric bus operations. The delivery coincides with the commissioning of a new 3,500 m² depot designed to charge up to 53 electric buses, supporting large-scale fleet electrification.
The newly delivered 18.13-metre eCitaro G vehicles increase Regensburg’s eCitaro fleet to 20 buses, complementing the twelve eCitaro solo buses that have been in service since 2021. A further 15 eCitaro G buses are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2026, providing long-term capacity growth as the city works toward an emission-free public transport system by 2035.

Each eCitaro G is equipped with seven NMC3 high-voltage battery packs, delivering a total energy capacity of 688 kWh. The articulated buses feature electrically driven middle and rear axles, each rated at 282 kW, configured to meet urban traction and efficiency requirements. The vehicles are designed for plug-in depot charging and include charging sockets on both sides of the front axle to support flexible depot layouts.
In terms of safety and compliance, all buses meet the EU General Safety Regulation and are equipped with systems including Preventive Brake Assist 2, Sideguard Assist 2, Frontguard Assist, traffic sign assist, attention assist, and a rear-view camera. The interior layout provides seating for 45 passengers and a total capacity of up to 110 passengers, with accessibility features such as a wheelchair ramp.
The deployment builds on Regensburg’s operational experience with battery-electric buses and supports increased service reliability, lower local emissions, and scalable electric fleet operations aligned with future expansion plans.
