CIDETEC EXPANDS ITS BATTERY TESTING CAPACITY WITH A EUROPEAN LABORATORY

CIDETEC Energy Storage , a center specialized in battery research, has recently launched a new laboratory located in the MUBIL electromobility pole in Tolosa, a space promoted by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. The new facilities, which expand the resources that CIDETEC Energy Storage had until now in San Sebastián, will serve to provide service to battery users and developers with the aim of optimizing them and selecting the best characteristics for each application.

CIDETEC EXPANDS ITS BATTERY TESTING CAPACITY WITH A EUROPEAN LABORATORY

The equipment located in MUBIL will allow the testing of different types of batteries, simulating the conditions of the required applications, even putting them to the test in a powertrain test bench, which allows the characterization of all the elements of the electric traction of a vehicle in similar to real condition.

The tests will be carried out at the level of complete cells, modules or batterypack, and capacities that are completed with post-mortem analyzes that allow knowing the failure modes of a battery in order to establish corrective measures in its manufacture or use.

The deployed capacities will allow CIDETEC Energy Storage to offer new R&D and battery testing services for companies and technological agents, helping in the selection of technologies and fine-tuning of both electromobility and stationary applications. Among the offer of tests available are performance analysis, durability, cyclability, mechanical -vibrations and mechanical shock-, as well as abuse and safety. A powertrain and power electronics test bench complements the range of tests available from the point of view closest to electromobility products.

Testing capacities range from cell level to 1,200V and 250kW battery packs , including climatic and environmental chambers of up to 30 m3. The equipment is complemented among others by a laser welding station essential for module and battery pack prototyping tasks.

A human team with more than 15 years of experience in battery testing and testing will be in charge of the facilities, now completed with this new plant that accumulates an installed testing power of 1.25 kw, which makes it one of the best and most complete at European level.
