Scottish haulier GSM Transport has extended its long-standing relationship with Carrier Transicold, taking delivery of four temperature-controlled trailers mounted with Vector® HE 17 units, the latest addition to Carrier Transicold’s High Efficiency (HE) product range. Joining an almost exclusively Carrier Transicold-cooled trailer fleet, GSM Transport selected the Vector HE 17 because of the system’s powerful cooling performance, reduced noise emissions and significantly improved fuel consumption. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.
Mounted to 13.6-metre Gray & Adams trailers, the Vector HE 17 units join a 33-unit strong fleet. They will deliver milk and dairy products to customers across the UK daily as part of GSM Transport’s work with McQueens Dairies.
The design of the versatile Vector HE 17 means it can unlock a potential fuel saving of as much as 30%, when compared to the legacy Vector 1550. This is in part due to its innovative inverter technology, which constantly adapts the compressor speed to match cooling demand on the go. The system also delivers a host of additional benefits, including best-in-class cooling capacity output of above 16 kW and a 6dB (A) noise reduction. Additionally, at just 720kg, it ranks among the lightest products in its category.
Sharing a similar build architecture to the flagship Carrier Transicold Vector HE 19, the new Vector HE 17 also includes the company’s celebrated E-Drive technology. The technology results in improved efficiency, whether plugged into the grid at a depot or running electrically on the road via an alternative power source, such as a Carrier Transicold trailer-mounted battery pack or a tractor-driven Eco-Drive module that converts power directly from the truck’s own engine.
This latest delivery of Vector HE 17 units is another milestone for Carrier Transicold as it contributes to Carrier’s goal of helping customers avoid more than 1 gigaton of GHG emissions by 2030.
