Schaeffler Expands Electrification Capabilities with New Technologies at CTI Berlin

Electrified powertrain solutions for BEVs, hybrids and REEVS
At the CTI Symposium in Berlin, Schaeffler is presenting a broad range of electrification technologies designed for battery-electric vehicles, hybrids, and the fast-growing segment of range extender electric vehicles. Built on a modular architecture covering mechanical, electronic, and mechatronic components, the portfolio addresses global requirements for efficient, scalable, and flexible electric powertrain solutions.

Integrated drive and control innovations for next-generation e-mobility
Schaeffler’s electrification range includes the fourth-generation EMR4 electric axle drive as well as power electronics, electric motors, and advanced control units. A key highlight is the High Performance Master Control Unit, a modular hardware platform that centralizes powertrain functions for software-defined vehicles. With zone controllers and application software, Schaeffler offers both the hardware and software required to coordinate complex electric powertrains efficiently.

Compact generator module designed for REEV growth markets
A centerpiece of the exhibition is Schaeffler’s new range extender module for REEVs, built to support growing adoption in China and the USA. Despite delivering up to 300 kW of continuous charging power in its higher power class, the module remains extremely compact with simple interfaces for fast integration. The system includes an electric motor, power electronics, cooling module, and oil management components, and is compatible with both 400 V and 800 V architectures. By activating only when battery levels fall below a defined threshold, it enables long-distance travel without charging stops while preserving fully electric operation for short trips.

Specialized components supporting efficiency and reliability
Schaeffler also highlights smaller but critical innovations such as the VoltShield-P insulation bearing, which protects electric motors from high-frequency circulating currents that can damage bearings over time. In response to environmental regulations and winter-performance demands, the company is developing thermal management solutions designed for PFAS-free refrigerants such as propane and CO₂, ensuring reliable operation across diverse climates.

A comprehensive platform for global e-mobility needs
By combining compact high-power generator modules, intelligent vehicle control systems, specialized motor protection solutions, and sustainable thermal management technologies, Schaeffler demonstrates a complete and modular approach to electrification. The company’s product range supports all major electric powertrain topologies, reinforcing its position as a strong innovation partner for the rapidly advancing e-mobility sector.
