Vector Launches Modular Vehicle Diagnostics Platform

Vector Informatik has introduced vInspect, a configurable diagnostic and software update platform designed for vehicle component manufacturers and service organizations seeking lower ownership costs without building custom tools from scratch.

A platform approach between standard tools and custom development
Vehicle component diagnostics often forces organizations to choose between inflexible off-the-shelf tools and costly in-house software development. vInspect addresses this gap through a platform concept that enables rapid deployment while allowing targeted customization. The approach is intended to reduce total cost of ownership while maintaining adaptability across different product lines and service scenarios within the automotive data ecosystem.

The software is built using modern web technologies and can be adapted visually to company-specific corporate design requirements, including colors, logos, and layouts, enabling consistent use across branded service environments.

Component-focused diagnostics and updates
vInspect targets diagnostics and software updates for a broad range of vehicle components, including driveline systems, batteries, lighting, thermal management systems, and pumps. The platform supports both diagnostics and flashing workflows, allowing service organizations to manage component validation and software maintenance within a single environment.

Automatic configuration detection enables the software to adapt its settings to the connected vehicle component, reducing manual setup steps and minimizing the risk of incorrect parameter selection during service operations.

Reuse of existing communication hardware
To limit additional investment, vInspect is compatible with existing vehicle communication interfaces based on D-PDU API (ISO 22900-2) and Pass-Thru (SAE J2534). This allows manufacturers and service providers to continue using established VCIs rather than replacing hardware, supporting incremental adoption across existing diagnostic infrastructures.

This compatibility is particularly relevant for organizations operating mixed fleets of tools and vehicle platforms across multiple regions.

Scalable deployment and role-based access
The user interface is configurable through dashboards and widgets, allowing diagnostic workflows to be tailored to specific tasks or user roles. Configuration changes can be distributed centrally via the cloud, supporting large service organizations with many users and locations.

Role-based rights management controls access according to technician competence and responsibilities, helping ensure secure and task-appropriate use of diagnostic and update functions. The platform supports both online and offline operation, enabling continued use in workshop environments with limited connectivity.

By combining configurable software architecture, reuse of existing hardware standards, and centralized configuration management, vInspect positions itself as a flexible diagnostic platform for automotive
