Repair kits for electric axles in the aftermarket

Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions expands its aftermarket portfolio with new repair kits for electric axles, designed for EMR3 systems used in numerous Stellantis vehicles. These solutions enable targeted intervention on key components of the electric axle without replacing the entire unit, optimizing costs and service times for independent workshops.

Repair of motor and transmission in electric axles
The E-Axle RepSystem-M and E-Axle RepSystem-G enable repair of the electric motor and transmission unit in EMR3 axles. The kits include OE-quality bearings and seals, along with detailed installation instructions to support workshop operations.

A dedicated service tool is also available to facilitate controlled disassembly and assembly of the rotor and stator. This approach reduces physical effort and minimizes risks associated with magnetic forces, while helping to prevent component damage.

New solution for power electronics
Schaeffler also introduces a dedicated solution for the Power Electronics Unit (PEU), responsible for converting and controlling electrical energy within the system.

The new kits enable repair of faults related to peripheral components, such as damaged cables, connectors, or cooling circuits, eliminating the need to replace the entire electric axle. Previously, such issues often required more extensive and costly interventions.

One kit includes components for repairing the cooling circuit, such as hose connectors and clamps. A second kit contains a protective plate, fasteners, signal wiring harness, and sealing elements, allowing targeted replacement of damaged parts.

Full coverage of the EMR3 system
With the RepSystem-M, RepSystem-G, and PEU kits, Schaeffler now covers all three main modules of the EMR3 electric axle: motor, transmission, and power electronics. This enables workshops to perform comprehensive repairs without full axle replacement.

The solutions include technical documentation with installation specifications, tightening sequences, and torque values, ensuring compliance with original equipment standards.

Impact on the e-mobility aftermarket
The EMR3 axle has been used in Stellantis vehicles since 2019, and many of these vehicles are now beyond their warranty period. This increases demand for repair solutions in the aftermarket.

The new kits enable independent workshops to carry out targeted repairs, improving operational efficiency and reducing maintenance costs for electric vehicles. Overall, the solutions cover more than 500,000 vehicles worldwide.
