MAN Truck & Bus SE, established in 1758 and headquartered in Munich, Germany, is a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer specializing in the production of trucks, buses, and vans. The company is at the forefront of addressing challenges in e-mobility, digitalization, and automation, with the ambitious goal of developing a fully autonomous, zero-emission truck by the end of the decade. Committed to sustainability, MAN integrates innovative technologies to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Operating globally, MAN Truck & Bus combines extensive industry experience with a focus on future-oriented transportation solutions.
On the site of the former Berlin Tempelhof Airport, in the presence of German Federal Minister for Digital and Transport Dr. Volker Wissing, MAN Truck & Bus had a near-series prototype of its upcoming electric truck driven today in public for the first time. A special technical feature of the trailblazing electric commercial vehicle, which will be launched on the market in 2024, is its capacity for future megawatt charging.
Ten electrifying days are behind it: The MAN Lion's City 12 E - pioneer of MAN's zero emission strategy - has reliably completed a journey of around 2,500 kilometers through eight European countries. Its destination was the "green island" of Ireland. There, the all-electric city bus is taking part in the "International Bus Euro Test 2022" in Limerick.
Business with electric buses is picking up significantly at MAN Truck & Bus. More than 700 MAN electric buses have already been ordered since the Lion's City E went on sale. The latest order for a total of 53 of the all-electric city buses has now come from Hamburg. However, several of the eBuses are already in use - throughout Europe.
MAN Truck & Bus, Knorr-Bremse, Leoni and Bosch are joining forces for greater safety, flexibility and efficiency in logistics. Together with automated logistics provider Fernride and test tool manufacturer BTC Embedded Systems, they aim to have autonomously driving trucks on the highway for the first time by the middle of this decade in the ATLAS-L4 project.
MAN Truck & Bus is accelerating the change to zero-emission commercial vehicles. Production of heavy-duty e-trucks in Munich is now scheduled to begin as early as the beginning of 2024 with prompt delivery of an initial 200 units. This is almost a year earlier than originally planned.
